Voyage of the Dawn Treader – Great News

The Dawn Treader

Well we’ve just been given approval for a special private showing of Voyage of the Dawn Treader before the release date – THANK YOU FOX.

We have seen a number of great films over the years that we have gone to as part of creating community as a church. Fox have very generously allowed us to see this film early so that we can fit it into our Christmas schedule.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was written by CS Lewis an professor of medieval literature in both Oxford and Cambridge universities. His Narnia books have been favourites of mine since I read them as a child. Although child-like they have some great quotes in them and they address great themes using the imagery of Narnia.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has a whole load of imagery in it. Harvey, has done a great write up the themes on his blog it includes themes of re-birth and redemption. We see issues of temptation and guidance. At the end Aslan appears as the Lamb – making clear the Christian imagery of the books.

It has always been one of my favourite of the 7 Narnia books with the picture of a pilgrimage or voyage through life.

If you are in anyway connected to Springfield (been to a holiday club – or child; go to one of our ministries or know someone at Springfield) then please do ask about tickets. We are seeing it on Sunday 5th December (time to be agreed but hopefully in the afternoon). We are selling the tickets at a special price of £4.50 per ticket.

Private, early viewing; cheap ticket; great film; great company. What could be better?
