Staff away days

It’s been a great few days away as a staff team. Bill has led most of the sessions looking at the different areas of the church and where we can see what changes we need to look at and what we need to focus on as a staff team.

These were often quite intense and lengthy sessions in which the team worked hard to work out what made sense and what God was saying to us. There is always a healthy tension to get to a point where we can say “it seems right to us and the Holy Spirit”.

We were looking at a wide range of areas of the church and especially things that affect the whole church. Many of these things will be looked at over the coming months by the PCC and especially by the Leaders day in May next year. We hope that by then we will have the ideas in a great state to look at and consider and help us set some of the key priorities over the next few years.

It was also a great opportunity to help the staff team to grow together. It’s sometimes easy to forget how far we have developed in the past few years. With the joining in the past couple of years of Chris and Angie and now Donna we have 10 people (including out two wardens) and as a result the dynamics have changed and part of this time away was to help the team to bond together. I think and hope that this was really successful (but you will have to ask them how they felt!).

Wills blog is now home to his first Planking picture!

Not sure whether to claim I was slain in the spirit, or just tired and emotional…

(please note the pink socks to match Will’s shirt)

Strictly speaking Planking is performed lying face down. Pink socks are allowed. Having a snooze and trying to pass it off a planking is not.

Thanks John- I lie corrected. [Next ambition is to get an owling picture on Will’s blog]

Will- Cool is such a 20th century word, even when paired with an exclamation mark. (But then, I’m also old enough to know what you mean) The socks weren’t at all odd: they definitely matched
