One of the delights of being here in Kenya is the beauty of the wildlife. Due to the nature of where we are most animals near here are domesticted ones. However, the birds are another thing. There are so many of them and so varied. So many large hawks flying around (sorry no pictures of them!).
Quite a few beautiful birds I haven’t caught on camera or are not great but I thought I would share a selection of them here. I have no idea what many of them are so if you know please do tell us! I am certainly no twitcher and I don’t have the patience to wait for an hour or two to get particular birds but it has been nice to film them – and there are several occassions when either I fumbled for my camera or they moved before I could take a picture of them.

Janet, thank you so much. We have just finished our last chat with ou hosts – we’re up and off at 5am in the morning – but I must say it has been such an amazing experience and its been wonderful to have people like yourself following us and sharing in our thoughts and experiences.
I’m hoping to get more videos up on Sunday / Monday when I get home – there is a great HIV/Aids awareness one that needs better internet connection upload as its quite large and many others. We also want to write a “bluffers guide to Kakamega”!
Still, if we go out again – do come with us!

My other bird shots from Kenya are:
* Marabou Stork
* African Pied Wagtail
* Weaver bird (of some sort)
* Unidentified black bird
* Black Kites (these were the ones we saw hundreds of)
* Unidentified small birds – thought they might be some sort of Whydah but no idea really
* Unidentified bird – I can’t work out if it’s some kind of owl or a Grey Parrot! It was in Kakamega Rainforest
