Many people in this country have been and will be affected by the Comprehensive Spending Review. Whether you are very against it or see it as a necessary burden it is good to understand and try and engage with what it means for us individually and corporately.
I (and I am sure many others) have received an email from our local MP, Tom Brake regarding this. He is hosting an open meeting to discuss the implications of this.
Again whatever your opinion I think its really good that Tom Brake is prepared to discuss these issues in open forum. Those of us who are Christians need to be able and willing to debate these things in public and bring our faith to bear on the great issues of the day. Democracy depends on people being prepared to talk about and debate issues of concern.
I Would love to have been there (but I’m hosting Bishop Nick for the evening) but do get there if you can. The email is below with all the details:
I will be hosting a public meeting later this week regarding the impact of the Comprehensive Spending Review.
I know that some local people are concerned and unsure about how the spending review will impact upon them and their families and that is why I have arranged this public meeting so that my constituents can share their comments and concerns with me directly.
The meeting kindly and aptly hosted by SCOLA, your community college, and will be taking place at the SCOLA Centre, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, Surrey SM1 1EA at 7.45pm on Thursday 18th November.
There are a limited number of seats available so if you would like to attend please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0208 255 8155.
