Without buildings

I’ve just had an article published about operating as a church without owning our buildings on the Church Growth R&D website. You can read the article here: http://www.churchgrowthrd.org.uk/blog/churchgrowth/without_a_building

I have just read your article Will, very interesting.

Just saying to people that my Church is held in a school is always a good talking point and they want to know all about it and then the conversation moves on to all the other places that Springfield frequents, so more conversation, and then they want to know, what do we do in these other places.

In my previous Church over the years a lot of building works took place and now it is a lovely building, but for me I never liked the idea of having it used as a conference centre for business’s but then someone pointed out to me that maybe some of those people had never entered a Church building before and who knows what effect it may have on them ? I suppose they have point.

I love my Springfield Church, it isn’t about the building it is about the people . Perhaps our logo should be,

    Have Church will travel

because of the fact that our Church does travel to lots of different places to reach out people in our community and beyond, Kenya for example and there is another story.

    Hi Melanie,

Thanks for that. I don’t think that every church should give up its buildings but I want people to think where is the best place to do something – and sometimes that isn’t necessarily in a church building. And you’re right the church is the people.
