Well what a great celebration it was yesterday! Great weather for Sue’s Ordination at Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford. It was lovely to see Sue supported by family and friends (with a good contingent from Springfield there).
It was a great service led by the Bishop of Oxford, John Pritchard and a wonderful life-giving sermon by Gordon someone or other! We were asked not take to take our orders of service with us (which is why I can’t remember the name) as there were going to be 3 ordination services that day as there were over 30 candidates being ordained!! It is a wonderful testimony to the vibrancy of the church that so many people are still wishing to be ordained (and remember that this is one diocese of over 50 in the Church of England).
It was great to see Sue coming to the next stage of her journey of faith with being ordained after quite a few years of exploring whether God was calling her or not. Sue will now be serving her curacy at Holy Trinity, Sunningdale and it was great to meet her new incumbent David Uffindell and fill him in on Sue (its ok Sue I was nice about you)! Sue will be spending three to four years in Sunningdale as part of her training towards becoming a vicar. This is a crucial time in her growing and always challenges people in all sorts of ways. Do pray for Sue during this time – it is a time when many are challenged and have to start putting into practise all that they have seen or learnt elsewhere.
Sue has played a significant part in the life of Springfield and we do pray that God will lead her in this new phase of her walk with Him.
